SUMMARY
STEM education is related to the transformation of every aspect of education, including the purpose of education, the curriculum, the content to learn, the methodology to teach, and the role of teachers in student learning. The purpose of education is for fostering the competencies to adapt to 21st century skills instead of merely transmitting the knowledge to the next generation. To foster these competencies to develop life skills, education needs to be designed to present the content in real-life context and make students experience inquiry and collaboration in schools first. The concern to provide quality STEM education continues to grow because there is a strong demand for STEM skills to meet economic and environmental challenges in the world. STEM skills are needed more than ever, and that is why any STEM reform becomes so important. Also, the connection to arts, creativity, and design should not be forgotten. These case studies also underscore the importance of developing strong will and detailed plans to enhance STEM education in a specific country and education system. This includes looking at several aspects for an interested country to start renewing its STEM education.
