CIPS in close with C-DAC is organizing a series of workshops all over the country to promote use of Free and Open Source Software (BOSS).
21st & 22nd December, 2012: CIPS in association with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (an autonomous society under DeitY) and Government of Andhra Pradesh has organized this two day workshop for the Officials of Srikakulam, Vizianagarm, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna Districts on 21st & 22nd December, 2012 at Visakhapatnam.
The workshop was conducted to sensitize there officials on the need to use BOSS software in place of Windows platform for bringing down costs.
Sri. R. Nagesh, Jt. Director C-DAC has explained the background of the activities of C-DAC and how it is involved in the development of BOSS software. The participants were given hands on experience on this software in a Computer Lab situated in the School of Distance Education, Andhra University.
Sri V.V.R. Sastry, E.D. Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), New Delhi made a presentation on “National Optic Fibre Network” (NOFN) – an ambitious project of the Govt. of India to connect all the panchayat samithis with high speed Bandwidth.
The participants on the second day were again exposed to the hands on experience and a field visit to Parwada, one of the three blocks selected by the Govt. of India to test the Optical Fibre Network on trial basis, the other two being in Rajasthan and Tripura.
21st of February, 2013:
CIPS has conducted a One Day Workshop for the officers of Govt. of Bihar at Patna on egovernance initiatives in association with BIPARD, Bihar.
22nd & 23rd of February, 2013:
CIPS has organized Two-day Workshop on Open Source Software BOSS in Hyderabad in association with CDAC, GoI, Hyderabad for the District Officials in which 66 officers participated in the programme.
14th & 15th of March, 2013:
CIPS has organized a Two-day Workshop on Innovative Practices at Shillong, Meghalaya in association with Meghalaya Government. The workshop is conducted for the officers of Meghalaya Government on Innovative practices. The first day i.e., on 14th March, 2013, is exclusively for e-governance initiatives ie., BOSS & State Development Gateway.
